Problem: A group of individuals that helps refugees with settlement, furniture and kitchen appliances, food, and other needs is stretched thin, and unable to do significant outreach for donations or provide as much support as they would like.
Target Audience: Potential donors and volunteers.
Refugee Support Website - Donations & Volunteering
Research:
Virtual meetings with volunteers to understand the outreach methods (and their effectiveness), the goals and the challenges of the core group of volunteers. I also conducted a competitive audit of similar organizations.
Empathize:

-
Outreach was just by word of mouth, so limited donations
-
Small core volunteer group was overstretched; with more information about volunteering dates/times for casual volunteers, the time commitment could be made more manageable
Insights:

I added pages for the core volunteers to organize their donor & volunteer contacts. Usability testing led to adding more information on volunteer opportunities, and simplifying the pages for donation and volunteering confirmation.
Wireframes &
Prototyping:

There were many pages, and my initial IA became unwieldy, so I streamlined it so there were two subcategories for Volunteering.
Information Architecture:

Phase 2 of user-testing led to more clarity around wording in the volunteer pages (re: how to sign up, & what is entailed); and modifications to the accessibility. A third round was conducted to ensure modifications were adequate.
